"Salamu" in Swahili means "Salute" and on Sunday, June 17, 2012 one of Atlanta's most honored World Music, Dance and Vocal Ensembles, Giwayen Mata and special guests, are saluting fathers, sons, brothers, husbands, and special loved ones!
Expect a 90-minute, high-energy live concert production that is guaranteed to pull you out of your seat for a feel-good family-friendly experience! You will be 'wowed' by the elephant roar of the 18-member ensemble's djembe drum orchestra, traditional West African and contemporary dancing, singing, and spoken word. You will also learn teachings, dances, songs and spoken word hailing from various regions of Africa.
Recognized by The City of Atlanta, The State of Georgia, and National Organizations and Media Outlets, Giwayen Mata has, for 19-years, reigned as a "fan-favorite" and was given the title "BEST WORLD MUSIC ACT" three-times by Creative Loafing Atlanta Magazine.
"SALUTE TO OUR MEN" will be held at the Southwest Arts Center located 915 New Hope Road Atlanta, GA 30331 at 3 o'clock in the afternoon. Tickets are $25 in advance by purchasing through PayPal online, or $28 at the door. Students, Senior Citizens, and children under ten pay $20. www.giwayenmata.org
